Cans
Got an early train at the weekend to go to Cans, quite possibly the most glorious and significant street art festival ever, with just an incredible line up of artists.
The art on show was jaw dropping and the vibe was wonderful. In front of me in the queue was three lads of about 10, masks and gloves at the ready for some stencil madness in the public area, and behind me was a woman of 65 come to enjoy the gallery. Bumped into Matt Small too, which was nice.
A really glorious carnival like atmosphere inside the tunnel with everyone so pleased to be there enjoying the work, which included Banksy, Dolk, Faile, Pobel, Eine, Vhils and many other awesome artists.
Needless to say the day was completely inspiring and will apparently be available to visit for 6 months at least (no installations, but the Graf will stay), and is without doubt worthy of a visit, it will be recognised for years to come as a seminal moment in street art history, and you can tell the kids you were there.

Joshua Krause
It felt about time (really) to go with a full post and it appears appropriate that the awesome artist Joshua Krause fits the bill.
I can't remember where I first saw JK's art, but remember thinking it was a glorious balance of beauty, movement, colour and obsessive compulsive disorder. It reminded me at first of a couple of other incredible artists I had been into for a while: Jose Parla (genius) in parts, and Herbert Baglione in others, that's about as good as comparisons can get. His beautiful pieces are enormously intricate and complex and completely simple flowing patterns, not fiddly or contrived, just wonderful.
The guy himself is a dude. Honest, open, friendly and funny - quite nice then.
He has a show coming up at the Cerasoli Gallery, and I don't think it will be long before we see him in the UK, which would be cool.

Influenced as much by dreams as by stupid movies, Joshua relies on intuition and the unconscious to guide his work. Born in NYC in 1977, and raised in Florida, Joshua lives and works in San Diego, CA.'
